Burn Calories and Lose Weight – Beware the Gimmicks

Alright, I saw another stupid article the other day about helping you to lose weight. In this one, they touted that eating chocolate will help and overweight individuals lose weight. They took a group of men and fed them both dark chocolate and pizza (the perfect recipe for reaching your optimum body weight). Supposedly, the men consumed 15% less pizza.

Dark chocolate is supposed to make you feel less like eating fatty type foods. Now I seriously question the scientific research behind such a study. I am sure I could find a group of men who could down a large pizza after eating dark chocolate. I am sure that I could also find a group of men who couldn’t stop at one square of dark chocolate. If they had that much discipline then they probably wouldn’t be overweight in the first place.

The point is if you are looking for gimmicky things to enable you to burn calories and lose weight then you are probably barking up the wrong tree. Stop looking for ridiculous things to help. You will begin to burn calories and lose weight when you begin to eat right and exercise. There is no magic diet pill that you can take. Burning calories and losing weight takes work, consistent work.

Please understand that you took years to put all of the extra weight on and you can’t take it off all in one month. It will take a little time.

Now that we are coming upon that time of year where people begin to make New Year’s resolutions and are focused on the idea of losing weight I am just asking that you don’t fall into the trap of looking for the quick fix or one that may damage your health. Understand what it takes to burn calories and lose weight. Resolve to burn calories and lose weight the right way and the lasting way. There are many ideas that have gone before this post and there are many to come after this post.

Find a great exercise program and a good diet program and stick to it for at least one month at a time. Set goals for yourself that are reachable and achievable. Do it the right way and 6 months from now, you will be impressed with the results. If you try to find some gimmicky weight loss trick my guess is you will be heavier in six months.

Think it over; the choice is yours.
