Lose Weight Safely Without Weight Loss Supplements

Most of us need to lose weight.  The latest statistics show that most countries have a problme with obesity.  America is no different.  In fact, it is probably worse.  A full 60% of our citizens are now overweight with 25% of the country considered obese.  We need to do something about it but in the rush to do so many people turn to things that may have adverse effects on their health.  The key is to find a way to lose weight safely.

There are a larger number of people than one would like who are consdiering surgery liposuction and supplements as a way to address their weight problem.  None of tese, however, would be considered ways to lose weight safely.  Gastric bypass surgery can be life threatening and is riddled with complications.  It is a drastic action taken on behalf of those with sever weight issues.  Often those who get the surgery put the weight they lose back on because they have never changed their mindset.

Liposuction is also not without its difficulties with reaction to anesthesia or infection an occassional problem that crops up.

The weight loss industry has created numberous supplements to meet the demand in this arena.  All you need to do is turn on a radio or television to hear about fat burners or appetite suppressants or some other fad that is out currently.

Not all supplements are bad but many of them do not fall into the category of how to lose weight safely.  Just look at the past history of drugs such as phen phen, ephedra or hydroxycut.  Any supplement that is not natural to your body can cause complications with your help.  The question is what supplement out on the market today will be the one.

You have within you the ability to lose all the weight you need.  It just requires action on your part.  Lasting weight loss requires effort and discipline.  Here are a few suggestions for taking action and enabling yourself to lose weight safely.

Discipline.  Weight loss requires you to have discipline.  It requires  discipline at the grocery store; it requires discipline at the dinner table; it requires discipline in your daily exercise routine.  If you cannot be disciplined on your own then find an accountability partner who can help.

Cut back on food intake.  You need to watch what you eat.  This cannot be ignored.  If you are sitting down with a bowl of ice cream every night or grab a handful of M & M’s 5 or 6 times throughout the day you will not lose weight.  Cut out the junk food from your diet.  Stop drinking sugary drinks.  Eat 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day.  Drink plenty of water.  Limit your carbohydrates to 30% to 40% of your calories intake.  You need to alter your diet.

Exercise, exercise, exercise.  You need to exercise. Exercising will burn calories and help in your quest to lose weight.  You don’t need to spend two hours every day at the gym or for that matter even go to the gym.  You can exercise at home.  Spend at least 20 minutes per day exercising.  In other articles you will find out what type of exercise is best but suffice it to say just get moving.  Do some cardio and weight training.  As always, check with your doctor to make sure you are in condition to exercise.  This is especially true if you are greatly overweight.  Our goals is to lose weight safely; not cause cardiac arrest.

Discipline, diet and exercise.  If you focus on those three elements the weight will begin to slowly come off.  One of the best things about it is not only will you lose weight safely but you will gain a sense of accomplishment and realize that you can do this.  You can lose weight.
