Why We Have An Obese Nation

Huntington, WV - Sickest City in the U.S.

I heard on my way into work this morning that that Center for Disease Control (CDC) came out with its list of the most unhealthiest cities in the U.S. Much to its dismay, the cit of Huntington, WV topped the list. The CDC estimated that 50% of the city was obese. Now I didn’t say that 50% was overweight; I said they were considered obese. This is twice the national average. You can seek from looking at the chart that along with the obese condition come some dangerous diseases as well.

Now if you are reading this, you are an individual who has determined not to find yourself in this condition. Or if you have been categorized as obese you have determined that you are going to change your condition. I applaud you. I hope I can be a consistent resource for you in the battle that most of us face: the battle against added weight.

But here is the problem. We all want to burn calories and lose weight but “want to” isn’t enough. If you asked most overweight people is they would prefer to be thinner their answer would be a resounding yes. But yet they aren’t. The question is why not? I believe the answer to that question involves many aspects. Here they are:

1. They don’t have a diet plan.
2. They don’t have an exercise plan.
3. Their task seems overwhelming and difficult.
4. They don’t have a support group.
5. They don’t have access to gym or can’t afford gym.

Over the next week, I would like to take each of these factors and show you how to overcome them. You can achieve your desired weight and with a little help you will. Keep your head up and stay positive. See you tomorrow.
